He did it!

The day after my last post....he signed MORE!!! Yeah! He is such a smart boy. We were eating at Marketplace with our friends, the Andrews from Tulsa. Brent was holding Ben and letting him eat Gerber Puffs. I was talking with Jennifer and didn't get to see him sign, but I overheard Brent saying, "what are you trying to say, buddy? Oh you want more!" I looked at him and said, "What did you say?" Brent said, "He just was eating puffs and signed more." I started clapping. "He's never done that. We have been teaching him that like crazy, but he hasn't done it yet." So we encouraged him to do it again and sure enough he did it for me two more times at lunch. Oh, my heart was so happy. I needed that encouragement. He does "get it!"

Now, onto sad news. Tonight, as we were getting him ready for his bath, he touched one of the under counter lights and burned his thumb. It has a blister on it. I've covered it with a sock, because it's his thumb that he sucks. It... is... pitiful! We gave him Motrin, ran his hand under cold water forever, and went to buy him some pacifiers. God I pray we get some sleep tonight. Pray for his thumb to heal quickly. Pray that he finds some comfort with his other thumb or a paci.
