Following in little footsteps...

This is my precious niece, Cailynn.

She was born, January 30th, 2009 in the worst ice storm.

Now here we are, exactly one year later after the category 5 ice storm hit, and I am 9 months pregnant with a due date only days away. But what makes it even more ironic, is another ice storm is predicted to hit tomorrow. My parents are in a local hotel as we speak and my husband rented a generator just in case. We choose to have power when birthing a baby at home. I'm not quite ready to accept no modern conveniences just because we are having her at home. Like heat, lights, food, ice, a heating pad.... all that seems REALLY important to me for a birth. Call me crazy.

I just can't believe that Aubrey might actually be born on or near my niece's birthday in an ice storm. What are the chances of that?

Much like the chances of Benjamin actually staying in his bed and falling asleep all on his own. Well, tonight daddy put that theory to the test. He did have Benadryl in his system though. Anyway, Scot put him to bed. Did the whole bedtime routine. Bottle, book, hugs, prayer... then told him to go to sleep, do not get up or he would get a spanking. He stayed in his bed without getting out for like 10 or 15 minutes. I was shocked. But he did get up, got a spanking, Scot put him back in bed, laid with him until he stopped crying, and went through his don't get out of bed speech again. You know what? He didn't get up! He actually fell asleep. Amazing. Poor guy. This is going to be a tough couple of weeks adjustment for him. He's cutting bottom molars and getting a baby to rock his world. I would have laid with him and hugged and kissed him and let him play with my hair till he fell asleep. Which is why daddy needs to put him to bed. I am just tooooo pregnant and my baby isn't going to be the baby much longer. So sad.

Well, we will just have to see how the beginning of Aubrey's story unfolds. Right now we have a change in barometric pressure, along with a full moon Saturday to help her out. : )
